Prattley has been manufacturing mobile sheep yards for more than 31 years. Murray Prattley, the founder, has always determined that his product should attract the absolute minimum of criticism and this has resulted in equipment that is subject to extravagant accolades from anyone who uses it.

Over the years Prattley has expanded into export, into a much wider range of products and into high quality materials such as aluminium alloy and plywood.

At present, our biggest export destination is the UK, where, in competition to cheaper alternatives, Prattley has captured the biggest market share.

In addition to the mobile sheep yards, Prattley now builds mobile and permanent cattle yards, animal weighing and drafting crates, pickup crates, cattle crushes, and dog motels.

Aluminium alloy is used extensively, because it is light weight, greatly reducing the effort and manpower needed to handle components, and resilient and able to absorb shock in the same way that an aircraft's wing absorbs air pressure bumps.

Although the design and materials of Prattley products place them near the top of the price range, all their equipment centres on efficiency achieved through ease of use and effectiveness. With all the subsidies, the New Zealand farmer has been forced to become very efficient to survive. Farmers aim to make one capital purchase that will last them as long as possible as an alternative to many purchases of cheaper, short-lived equipment.
