HortResearch

HortResearch is a world-leading fruit science company. We use our unique resources in fruit, plants and environmentally sustainable production systems to produce innovative fruit, food and orchard technology products. 

We have more than 500 staff who work at 10 sites around New Zealand, from Kerikeri in the north to Clyde in the south. At five of these sites we have orchards, which act as outdoor laboratories for research. Our largest site and corporate office is in Mt Albert in Auckland, with around 200 staff. We also have Business Leaders based offshore in Australia, California and Spain.

Our current research and development programmes include a number aimed at technologies for the "orchard of the future". These include:

• automated and selective harvesting techniques and equipment
• sensors for measuring fruit quality and characteristics in the field
• insect traps
• portable DNA analysers for disease detection. 

We look forward to working with Agritech members and associates on the development and implementation of these technologies.
