When New Zealand farm pioneers were discovering new techniques for turning our wilderness backcountry into productive land, Ernest Hayes was right in there developing the tools that helped them do it. The company began selling to the world when their new smooth-grip wire strainer came into demand in 1924.  This was the origin of that ubiquitous Hayes "Smooth-grip Chain-grab" strainer that is standard equipment on so many farms today around the world.  Following on the heels of this success has come a whole range of fencing aids. This company is continuing to that fine tradition of listening to practical farmers, hearing what problems they face what solutions they need, then developing the products that will make their lives easier, more profitable and more productive. This Fence Strainer has been especially designed for straining up all classes of prefabricated fencing.  The unit consist of a grab assembly with a long handle and with 6m of chain.

Made from steel, designed for quick easy operation, no nuts and bolts, simple 'hammer-in' wedges.  For deer and game fence use Hayes Cat no. H508S/1.9 (6'), for livestock and top-up fences use Cat No. H508/1.2 (3'3").
