Farmworks

FARM WORKS Precision Farming Systems Ltd commenced operations in 1996 to deliver GPS Mapping Services to rural New Zealand. The company has since grown to include a complete and easily integrated range of precision farming tools. At the heart of the business is the GPS Mapping Service. The GPS map is a critical tool in the rural sector's drive to increase productivity, to minimise input wastage and to meet environmental compliance requirements.  With accuracy to within +/- 500mm the GPS map typically underpins decisions around stock rotations, crop contracts, fertiliser applications, farm conversions and design, irrigation layouts, fencing of streams and bush, sharemilker production bonus agreements and horticulture production contracts. Poor accuracy of underlying land area data can clearly have major implications for income.

Our newest product, is the GPS capable Feed Reader; an ultrasonic feed device reader that can be fitted to the bottom front of the farm ATV or ute which automatically reads the amount of pasture in the paddock, as they you drive around the farm. The data terminal has GPS auto paddock recognition, (once the farm map is loaded into it ), it and will automatically read the feed position and assign each reading to the correct paddock before the records are updated, then upload ed it to the computer. One of the many advantages of the device is that farmers can work out their pasture growth and generate yield maps with readings taken pre and post grazing. Data is automatically downloaded, when within range of FarmNet, so the data terminal never has to be removed from the farm vehicle.

FarmNet is a wireless data network for the farm. Once installed the network has endless incredible possibilities for transferring farm information back to the home computer system. Information and operations such as turning on irrigation valves weather and soil information, flow meters, and effluent management systems can be recorded and automatically sent punched back to the home system. The FarmNet system has no ongoing data costs like those associated with cellular network systems. It has good coverage with up to 1.6 kilometers line of sight in between coverage nodes and is secure – even if neighbours have the same system there is no transfer of information.

While having a GPS map is the foundation of any precision farming system it is important to be able to easily utilise the mapping data in everyday farming activities. FARMWORKS has the answer with the P-Plus farm management software package, designed to work seamlessly with the GPS map and other FARMWORKS data capture devices including the Electronic Rising Plate Meter. Completing the package is the leading Australian farm financial software package, Phoenix Gateway.

In addition FARMWORKS has a range of accessories to leverage the investment already made in a farm map and oftware.  Communication Whiteboards permanently etched with a farm map and Map Pads are designed to take the hassle out of day to day communications with staff and contractors.

With the Head Office team located in Feilding the company also has a nationwide team of GPS Contractors along with North and South Island Sales support to service our farming clients, consultants and corporate.
